The power of Joomla is in the vast array of extensions available for it. We have been using Joomla since its ‘birth’ in 2005 and have seen many extensions come and go as Joomla grows up. In the beginning we were like kids in a candy shop installing lots of different extensions to add functionality to the site.

Over the years we have learned (the hard way) that not all extensions are worthy of being installed on our Joomla sites. We now ask the following questions 6 questions before installing them on one of our sites:

The median household income in Carmel, Indiana (where our office is located) is $80,000+. About half of the world’s population of 6+ billion live on less than $2/day. We need to share. And while I love sharing the power of Joomla with people, I recognize that the life-changing ability of a web software platform is minimal. 

On November 15th I boarded a plane in Indianapolis, IN headed for San Jose, CA and the inaugural Joomla World Conference. I wasn't sure what was in store, but I knew I would be finding out about all the new developments happening in the Joomlasphere. And I wasn't disappointed! Horizon International exists to create a world of hope for AIDS orphans. We designed a new website which affords them the ability to accept online donations for their ministries, secure sponsorships for the children they serve, and sell items in their holiday gift catalog online -- items which serve people in their mission fields.

Wealth Design Consultants helps top planners attract and retain more ideal financial and estate planning clients by helping them deliver transformational experiences to their clients. We designed and marked up a new website with an integrated newsletter registration system that interacts with the client's existing Constant Contact account.

Kirby Real Estate owns several commercial buildings in Carmel, Fishers, and Indianapolis with approximately 240 tenants and still growing while keeping a family oriented and personal approach. The company had been operating a website created with an online website building tool, but had run into limitations of the system. Mango Tree Media was approached to recreate the site in Joomla! and include a way for the company to display their available office spaces, price, square footage in an orderly way for visitors to the site. Besides reaching new clients, the site also provides a means for their existing tenants to login and manage their own account. 

When the weeks of preparation, content writing and revision, image collecting, and testing are complete and a new website is launched, we at Mango Tree Media are as excited as our clients! Recently, we celebrated with the staff of the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site, who launched their newly designed website on the 4th of July!

 

From July 21-28 Mango Tree owner James Friesen and Graphic Designer/Manager Brian Hansen had the distinct privilege of joining a team from White River Christian Church to go to the remote northwest islands of Panama to share with them hope and joy.

Joining the team in spirit and support were several Mango Tree clients in the Carmel/Indianapolis area who donated toward sports and diving equipment that the team was able to distribute to the people there.

JCL Sports is a community of athletes with a specific interest in training for triathalon events. The site features a dramatic design and both public and restricted access content. Registered members gain access to articles, recipes, training tips, and an online community. We also built an online store where members can also purchase custom training plans and quality gear at reduced prices. We developed a powerful integration with their client management system, Infusionsoft, allowing them to in large part automate the registration process and follow-up.
