RefreshIndy Weekend a Smashing Success

On the weekend of January 14-16 James and Brian headed down to the IUPUI campus in downtown Indianapolis to participate in RefreshIndy to participate in the crazy but meaningful Refresh Weekend. Participating web developers were divided into 4 groups and assigned their non-profit to work with.

We were fortunate to be paired with Anna's Celebration of Life, an Indianapolis non-profit dedicated to helping local kids with disabilities,in memory of the founder's daughter Anna.

They turned out to be a great client to work with, and we had a fun and cohesive team of 6 developers and videographers. In 48 hours we started a website from scratch and ended up with their brand new site.

Music For All

Music for All, operating out of Indianapolis, IN, is one of the largest and most influential national music education organizations in support of active music making. Their previous site was very hard for them to update, and the content organization was very poor, leading to hard-to-find an outdated information. Mango Tree worked with Music For All to completely reorganize their content and present it in such a way that made it as easy to find as possible. More importantly, we implemented all this in Joomla using the K2 content system, which gives their worker's on-the-fly content editing and full access to update and expand their site. Finally we topped it off with training videos and on-site instruction to make sure they had the tools to keep the site updated and relevant.

GBIM.org

GBIM is a non-profit, Christian organization with a presence all over the world and a large and active donor base. They had contracted another company to create a Joomla-based site, but the design, content, and layout of the site just didn't have the level of quality and professionalism that they were looking for.

GBIM originally contracted us to manage updates and Joomla security on their old site, but when the time to pull the trigger on the complete site overhaul, Mango Tree was ready to take them to the next level.

We worked with them to create a vastly expanded site map, did a complete graphic overhaul, and then created a searchable database for their many service opportunities. Finally we completely revamped their donation section, allowing donors to use a cart system and integrating with GBIM's credit card processor.

Perhaps the most satisfying part of this project was that we turned over a system to GBIM (and provided necessary training)so that they can update and manage using their own employees without the need for a dedicated web developer.
